Lucy
Just before she started kindergarten in 2016, Lucy was diagnosed with a rare pediatric brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). She bravely endured six weeks of radiation therapy in Seattle, followed by chemotherapy and other treatments to try to give her the best life possible despite her terminal diagnosis. Lucy attended Kindergarten while she fought her brain tumor and loved every minute of it! She enjoyed spending time in the library, drawing pictures, and being with her friends.
She loved to be silly and tell jokes. Her favorite color was green and she loved her St. Patrick’s Day birthday. She loved to have dance parties and wanted to be a rock star when she grew up. Lucy was happy to her core, even when cancer limited her physical abilities. She smiled and danced as much as she could up until the very last weeks of her life. Her smile lit up any room and touched the hearts of everyone she met. She passed away on September 23, 2017 at the age of 6 ½, after living her best life with DIPG for 14 months.
